Staff Spotlight: Camden Makinen

Camden Makinen is a  Computer Science major and Mathematics minor from Richmond, Kentucky. He is a student programmer analyst and has been in this position since September 2023. He wants to eventually "join the computer science industry and get married to my fiancée in the summer of 2025."

In his job with EKU IT, he creates and alters reports, programs, and queries to fulfill various user requests. "This job lets me demonstrate and practice the skills I learned in my classes in a real-world setting. What I like most is that this job challenges me consistently and helps me develop new skills that cannot be taught in the classroom."

Camden loves spending time with his fiancée, friends, and family. He also enjoys helping his youngest cousin play through the latest Mario game that he is interested in and destroying his family in Mario Kart. Camden also likes reading.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities and experience that this job provides me. The real-world experience that I gain every day will hopefully help me springboard into a full-time job elsewhere after graduation."
