Institutional Student Information Records (ISIR)
Institutional Student Information Records (ISIR) is essential for financial aid administrators (FAAs). The ISIR contains all information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), key processing results, and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) financial aid history information. This information is imperative for the daily determination of financial aid eligibility. This job used to take a dedicated staff member to work through a 10-step process each day, including certain times of the year when they would need to process two financial aid years, which duplicated the process into our Banner system.
EKU IT automated this job now that runs early in the morning and uses the Department of Education’s common-line software tool to download the ISIR files to one of our secure servers. Then, it automatically runs the 10-step process necessary to load the files into the EKU Banner system so the Financial Aid office can review them each morning.
This automatic project has saved considerable time and taken away mistakes that can be created by someone manually processing the file.
