Staff Spotlight: Mike Wynn
Mike Wynn is the Service Desk Operations Team Lead here in EKU IT, which means he coordinates all tickets that come into the Service Desk, manages the schedule for all the areas and manages student workers. This includes working with the telecommunications group to manage Teams, Outside Emergency Phones (OEPs), elevator phones, and panic buttons. "I help make sure that someone is there to help with IT issues for the university by getting the issues to the people that take care of them or I take care of them myself in a timely manner."
Mike grew up on a hillside in Letcher County in the mountains of southeastern Kentucky. "You know you are there when you have to scoot forward in your seat to see the sky." Mike, a 2002 EKU graduate with a Computer and Information Security degree, joined IT in August 2001.
Normal downtime for Mike consists of running with his two daughters--Krysta (16) & Kella (13)--who are heavily invested in dance performances. "I am an avid horror movie enthusiast and travel with my girlfriend (Trina), where we enjoy camping and disc golf. We have played in seven states in the past two years."
"I have worked for EKU for 25 years and enjoy the people I work with. The greatest thing about working in IT is the teamwork we have to get things done and knowing that we are helping not only faculty and staff but also students at EKU."
We are incredibly lucky to have Mike on our IT team, and thank him for all he does!
