Data Privacy Day - 2021

data privacy day

Personal data has become like gold in our digital world.

Observed annually on January 28, Data Privacy Day is an international effort to create awareness about the importance of respecting privacy, safeguarding data, and enabling trust.

As a #PrivacyAware Champion, Eastern Kentucky University is dedicated to empowering students, faculty, and staff to better manage privacy and protect both personal university data.  IT encourages you to "Own Your Privacy" and help to encourage others to learn about ways to stay safe online.

Your data belongs to you, but you share it all the time. From shopping to banking, to going to the doctor or simply posting on Facebook, the exchange of personal data has become an unavoidable part of everyday life.

Knowing more about your personal data can help you make smart decisions about privacy.

This Thursday is Data Privacy Day, recognized globally as a time to remind ourselves just how much data about ourselves we share and how to do it safely.

We’ll be providing tips and resources focusing on data privacy all this week on our Twitter (@EKUITColonels) and Facebook (@ekuitservicedesk)!
