Staff Spotlight: Lindsay Riley

  LindsayR1

Lindsay Riley is an applications systems development specialist in EKU IT, which means she deploys software updates to the PCs in the campus community each month and helps create images to be deployed to our work machines and computer labs. "Between creating images, managing machine configurations, and software update deployments, what I do touches every machine at the university. If you're using your faculty staff EKU machine or lab machine or you checked out a loaner machine from the Geeks, you are using something I've worked on. You can be faculty, staff, or student, Mac or Windows PC, but at the end of the day, you're interacting with settings that my team builds and maintains. We do it with great care because it affects everyone."

Lindsay grew up in Waco, Kentucky. "I was lucky to grow up where I could wander a field, pick wild blackberries, and enjoy looking at a variety of plants, bugs, and other critters. It gave me an appreciation for those things that I might not have otherwise."

Lindsay's educational journey is a testament to her dedication and passion. She graduated from EKU in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio concentration, followed by her Master of Art in Teaching in 2013. During her undergraduate years, she gained practical experience as an IT student employee in the AV support team and as a Guru under IT. Her full-time commitment to IT began in 2014, starting on the IT Service Desk team.

Outside of work, Lindsay cherishes her time with her loved ones. She enjoys the company of her husband, Will, her mom, Pam, and her dogs, Barley, Biscuit, and Kaylee. Her hobbies include video games, drawing, music, and cooking, which she finds to be a great way to unwind and express her creativity.

We all love Lindsay's handmade Christmas cards each year (see the image below of her drawing of her dog Biscuit and herself) and feel lucky to have her on our team!
