Equipment Checkout

Checkout Procedures for Available Equipment

  • Present EKU Picture ID (current EKU Employee or Student) at the Geek reception area in the Student Technology Lab at the Library (Atrium outside 207)
  • Sign and initial all paperwork
  • Return all equipment, (bring your EKU Picture ID) by due date to avoid significant late fees

Responsibilities of Borrowers

  • All damage to the equipment due to misuse or carelessness (e.g., vandalism, torn or broken screens/covers)
  • Replacement of all lost or stolen equipment based on cost incurred at time of actual purchase--not at current market value
  • Personal data when using the equipment.  IT is not responsible to recover any personal or academic data left on items checked out. All items are reset, and all data is erased upon return.

Equipment Checkout Agreement

  • Initial equipment checkout is for ONE WEEK
  • There is a 24 HOUR wait period, after each checkout, before checking out again


  • 1st late fee at 24 hours late: $20
  • 2nd late fee at 14 days late): $50 (total $70)
  • 4 weeks late: Replacement fee (This fee based on cost incurred at time of actual purchase, not the current market value and is billed through student accounting.) (Both late fees+ replacement fee)
  • We also reserve the right to pro-rate costs based on damages
  • You are responsible for lost or stolen items.
